Thuli Mpshe

Acting CEO and General Manager Human Resources, South African Airways

Thuli Mpshe was appointed as Acting CEO of South African Airways on 29 July 2015 while holding the position of General Manager: Human Resources. She started her career in banking and worked at two of the three top banks in South Africa. Between 2001 and 2003, she was Executive Manager: Human Resources at SAA Cargo, and Executive Manager: Human Resources, for SAA’s Operations department.

From 2003 to 2010, she was Executive Director: Human Resources at Makro, part of Massmart Holdings, and then re-joined SAA in September 2010 as General Manager: Human Resources. She served as a council member of the University of Zululand for seven years, and Chairperson of the Board for Kids Haven, a home for street children in Benoni, for seven years.

Presently, Ms Mpshe holds a BCom (Unisa), Postgraduate Certificate in Business Management (Warwick University), Board Leadership Programme (GIBS), Executive Women’s Development Programme (GIBS), International Licentiate Diploma (Institute of Bankers in South Africa), Associate Banking Diploma (Institute of Bankers in South Africa).
